Nomenclature

45° Rain Hood:
The fan is supplied with a 45° rain hood and a bird screen at the air inlet. The rain hood is standard company equipment and is fitted before shipment. If a weather louver is installed on the exterior wall, the rain hood can be removed.
Gravity-Operated Backdraft Damper
The lightweight, flanged aluminum backdraft damper has low pressure loss, opens freely, and resets simply and reliably by gravity.
Explosion-Proof Construction:
For explosion-proof supply or exhaust applications, the sidewall fan must have explosion-proof construction. Explosion-proof sidewall fans use an aluminum-alloy impeller, a steel guide ring and an explosion-proof motor. The explosion-protection rating can be selected to suit the application.
Performance Parameters and Dimensions

WEX Series Sidewall Fan Overall and Installation Dimensions

Note: Recommended wall opening for sidewall fans: W+20. Dimensions in this table are for exhaust fans. For supply fans, please confirm the drawings separately.
Sidewall Fan Mounting
Concrete or Brick Walls
We recommend preparing the mounting opening according to the recommended “sidewall opening dimensions” in the catalog. After inserting the fan, fill the gap between the fan and wall with expanding foam, then level and waterproof it.
Profiled Color-Steel Walls
We recommend installing two horizontal lintels and vertical posts around the opening, sized to suit the opening, then fitting the fan between them. Fill the gap between the fan and wall with expanding foam, then level and waterproof it. A triangular support frame or threaded-rod suspension may also be used as appropriate.
Product Description
Fan Type
Sidewall axial supply/exhaust fans use steel or aluminum backward-swept blades. The blades are reinforced with ribs to increase strength and reduce blade-tip vibration, ensuring that vibration velocity meets operating requirements when rigidly supported. The blade-and-motor assembly undergoes static and dynamic balancing to achieve the G2.5 level specified by the international AMCA standard.
Fan Casing
The fan casing is square and made of galvanized steel sheet or cold-rolled steel sheet. The motor support structure must be robust and prevent resonance during fan operation. A safety guard must be installed on the indoor side to protect personnel.
Explosion-Proof Construction [Optional]
Explosion-proof sidewall fans have an aluminum impeller, a steel guide ring and an explosion-proof motor.
Motor
The protection rating must be IP44 for external-rotor motors and IP54 for internal-rotor motors. The insulation class is F. The motor is positioned in the airflow for effective cooling.
Nameplate
A permanently attached aluminum nameplate must clearly show the fan number, model and product serial number (the unique identifier for each unit), allowing customers to conveniently look up the service history of parts.
Frequently Asked Questions
A wall-mounted fan is designed for installation in a wall opening and for exhaust or supply air through a building’s exterior wall; its internal structure may use an axial fan. A standard Axial Flow Fan has a broader range of applications and can be used in ducts, equipment connections, or other installation configurations. The website should distinguish the two product entities based on their actual structure and installation purpose.
It can be matched to the selected model and project conditions. Please provide the dimensions of the wall opening, wall thickness, available space on the inside and outside, and installation detail drawings so we can confirm the fan frame, fixing method, and louver dimensions.
We can assess this based on the project's power supply conditions. However, a change in frequency affects motor speed, airflow, pressure, and power, so the selection must be reviewed again for the required frequency.
They can be configured according to the fan structure and installation location. Accessories such as louvers, protective screens, and weather hoods increase system resistance and affect the installation depth and overall dimensions, so they should be confirmed together with the fan selection.
We can evaluate gravity louvers, backdraft prevention structures, or other backdraft prevention solutions based on project requirements. The specific design needs to be confirmed based on the installation orientation, wind speed, external wind pressure, and maintenance requirements.
It should not be assumed to be suitable. Commercial kitchen exhaust involves grease, temperature, cleaning, and fire safety requirements. The fan design, motor location, materials, and applicable fire safety requirements should be confirmed based on the actual exhaust medium and project specifications. A standard wall-mounted fan product page should not claim that the fan is suitable for all commercial kitchen exhaust systems.
This should not be assumed by default. Fire smoke exhaust applications require selecting a dedicated high-temperature smoke exhaust fan, meeting temperature resistance requirements, and providing the inspection or certification documents required for the project. A standard wall-mounted fan product page should not directly claim fire smoke exhaust performance.
Materials, surface treatments, motor protection, and external accessories can be evaluated based on the environmental conditions. However, ordinary wall-mounted fans should not be described across the board as corrosion-resistant, explosion-proof, or all-weather products.
Please provide the model, airflow, total/static pressure, installation orientation, air inlet and outlet configuration, material, insulation, motor voltage/frequency, control method, filter module, smoke control and fire protection requirements, quantity, and packaging requirements. Performance, dimensions, and certification information are subject to the confirmed product and order documents.
